Heirloom quality watches may not operate at peak function—and can stop working entirely without regular care and service. And although you’ll find all kinds of quick-fix watch shops and even online instructions for how to repair watches yourself, we don’t recommend trusting your fine timepiece to anyone but a professional. Rolex built the Persin and Robbin watch repair shop, complete with state-of-the-art tools that meet the impeccable standards one would expect from a company renowned for excellence. As such, we conduct all basic repairs such as bracelet adjustments, link removals, and strap switches on premises. We also test watches for proper water and pressure requirements.
More in-depth Rolex services are conducted by Rolex at one of their service centers. We ship your timepiece overnight, fully insured, to Rolex for their service estimate. There are no charges for shipping nor insurance. All you need to do is stop by and drop off your timepiece.
Mechanical watches, in particular, require service approximately every five years because they—like the engines in luxury automobiles that don’t get regular oil changes—will dry out, which will affect the accuracy of the watch and cause parts to wear. Like a car, a watch may run for a long time without service but, eventually, the lack of preventive maintenance results in reduced function and more costly repairs.
If you have a watch that hasn’t been worn for years—perhaps one you’ve inherited or found in an antique shop—it is probably in need of service. Regular use ensures that active gears and parts distribute lubricants evenly throughout the movement; when a watch sits idle, these oils either dry out or disperse unevenly. In a complete watch overhaul, technicians will disassemble the watch, remove all traces of old lubricant, re-oil and re-assemble the movement, and adjust the timing to standard factory specifications. The exterior case and bracelet is then polished, removing all scratches and restoring the original finish.
Properly maintained, fine watches have the potential to keep accurate time for centuries, and we are dedicated to helping you get the most out of your timepiece. As with our jewelry repair, we begin all of our watch services with a free initial inspection and estimate. Because we value fine jewelry as much as you do, you can be assured that we will treat your watch with the respect and care it deserves. Our Automated Repair System lets us know the status of your watch at all times, and keeps a history of its service. Your watch is also 100 percent covered by Jewelers Mutual, the leader in jewelry store insurance. And, as always, our work is backed by a one-year guarantee.
